Level by level
Crown goes up one level each time you pick it again on a level-up (a chest can also give it a level), up to level 5. Nothing else levels it up: other passives never do. The table shows what it gives in all at each level.

Evolves
Crown can be at any level: only the weapon marked MAX has to be maxed.
Other things that change XP
These do not level up Crown. Each one adds its own bonus to XP, and the game adds every bonus together. For example, Crown at level 5 (+40%) + Growth at rank 5 (+15%) + Bloxy Mage (+10%) = +65% XP.
